Shichifuku
A moment to unwind in the city.
Located in Shirakawa, Koto Ward, Shichifuku serves timeless Japanese yoshoku comfort food. Its signature Shichifuku Lunch brings fried shrimp, menchi balls, and battered pork together on one platter, served day and night.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Operating under the modest banner of practical Western-style dining (jitsuyo yoshoku), Shichifuku draws immediate attention with its flagship plate, the Shichifuku Lunch. An oversized platter arrives laden with crisp fried shrimp, compact menchi balls packed with minced meat savory flavor, diner-style battered pork slices (nikuten), and a tender slice of ham. Coated in a sweet-savory sauce, the menchi balls and crisp-coated pork evoke an old-fashioned nostalgia that keeps chopsticks moving through the rice.
The Shichifuku Lunch comes in two tiers: Jo (special) and Nami (regular). Choosing the Jo upgrade brings a noticeably larger fried shrimp and adds a sunny-side-up fried egg, lending the plate the cheerful abundance of an adult's okosama lunch. A bed of shredded cabbage sits beside cold spaghetti, rich curry-spiced macaroni, and a warm bowl of dashi-scented miso soup, rounding out a complete set meal. Despite having "lunch" in its name, this signature assortment can be ordered as a set meal during evening dinner service as well.
Another popular combo, the Special Lunch, delivers a trio of tender squid fritters, breaded whitefish, and ginger pork (shogayaki). A light dusting of the tabletop red shiso seasoning (yukari) over the white rice adds a bright tartness that cuts through the richer meats and fry work, making short work of even generous portions. Beyond fried plates, the expansive menu covers omelet rice, pork sauté, ramen, and fried rice, reflecting the easygoing versatility of a neighborhood dining hall.
A television murmurs in the dining room as solo guests dig steadily into their sets and others unwind over bottled beer and fried snacks. Seating is limited, so table sharing can happen at peak times, but the eatery remains a dependable haven when you simply want to eat well and leave full. Payment is cash only, making it wise to carry bills before sitting down.
